11 more candidates file papers for Senate elections

QUETTA: Eleven more candidates on Sunday filed nomination papers with Returning Officer Abdul Razzaq to contest Senate elections.

“So far 25 candidates have filed their nomination papers for 12 Senate seats from Balochistan,” said a spokesman for the Election Commission of Pakistan.

The name of Zahoor Agha, who was awarded ticket by the high command of the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf after taking back ticket from business tycoon Abdul Qadir, was not found in the list of candidates who filed nomination papers on Sunday.

Eleven candidates, who filed nomination papers on Sunday, include founder of the Balochistan Awami Party (BAP) Saeed Ahmed Hashmi, Sajid Tareen of the Balochistan National Party-Mengal (BNP-M), Samina Ehsan of the Pakistan National Party and Samina Mumtaz Zehri, Kashifa Gichki and Shania Khan of the BAP.

Khalil George Bhutto of the BAP and Sunil Kumar of the BNP-M also submitted their nomination papers.

Monday (today) is the last date for filing nomination papers.
