SUKKUR: A peace rally was taken out in Tangwani town on Friday on a call given by Sindh United Party, demanding an end to raging tribal blood feuds in the district.

The rally, which was later joined by activists of Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam-Fazl and social workers, began from Jafarabad Road and reached the town’s bus stand where the participants staged a sit-in.

The protesters’ leaders Rahimdil Lashari, Shahnawaz Marhato, Laung Nandwani and others said that many people had been killed and several others had suffered injuries in incessant clashes between warring groups of different tribes, which had badly hit education of children and business activities as well as agriculture of the area.

They said that mothers had lost their sons and husbands and sisters their brothers and other close relatives and children had been orphaned in the gruesome armed clashes.

They demanded tribal elders, influential persons, elected public representatives of the area, Sindh government and district administration step in and play their role to bring to a halt the disputes and restore peace to save precious human lives and ensure development and prosperity in the area.
