KARACHI: Suspected robber shot dead

KARACHI, Oct. 11: A bandit was shot dead in Ferozabad on Tuesday. Police said that Ashfaq Umar, along with his friend Waheed Khan, had withdrawn Rs 200,000 from Bank Al Habib in Ferozabad.

As they were heading towards their home in a car (AGC-891) in Block 7, two suspects on a motorcycle intercepted them and demanded cash at gunpoint.

Police said Ashfaq gave them Rs 10,000 while he dumped the remaining amount beneath his seat. On this, the suspects opened fire, which missed the occupants of the car.

Waheed Khan, who was carrying a licensed pistol, took out his weapon and shot several bullets on the suspect, police said.

The suspect identified as Mohammad Fazal, a resident of Liaquatabad, died on the spot. Police recovered a TT pistol and Rs 10,000 from his possession.

His accomplice managed to escape. Police shifted the body to JPMC for post mortem.

DIES: A passer-by died and two others were injured in firing on Masan Road in Keamari on Tuesday.

Police said two groups, led by two brothers Younis and Firdous, exchanged fire at each other following a dispute between their children.

Police said that exchange of fire resulted in the death of Misal Khan, a passerby, and injuries to Akbar Khan and Naveed. Police arrested Shanroz and Muzzamil following the incident.

ACCIDENT: An elderly woman died in a road accident at Lea Market on Tuesday. Police said that 65-year-old woman was crossing a road in the Lea Market area when she was knocked down by a speeding bus. Police shifted the body to Civil Hospital for autopsy.
