BAJAUR: The provincial health department has not yet supplied Covid-19 vaccine to the local health department of Bajaur tribal district, health officials here said on Thursday.

They claimed that vaccines had already been provided to almost all other districts about a week ago.

They said that no frontline health worker in Bajaur could be vaccinated against the novel coronavirus as yet though the provincial health department had announced to start the first phase of the vaccination campaign in the district from February 3.

The sources claimed that the provincial health department through its official notification/letter sent to the district health officer’s office on February 2 had promised to start providing coronavirus vaccine from February 3, primarily for the frontline health workers, including doctors, nurses and paramedic staff.

When contacted, deputy commissioner Mohammad Fayyaz Khan confirmed that the provincial health department had not supplied Covid-19 vaccine to the district.
