(LETTER) Sir, Is it not the height of absurdity to find the so-called ‘national organisation’ sticking to the mass slogan even when the two major communities of this sub-continent stand poles apart in respect of culture and civilisation, customs and traditions, rules and regulations, not to say in their modes and ways of living?

These exponents of unity have invariably sought recourse to parallels of European and American history but a close examination of the same reveals an altogether different picture shattering the very foundation on which their conception of unity is based. When the similarity in culture, calendar, tradition, etc, of the Finns and the people of the Baltic, the Dutch, the Belgians, the Swedes and the Norwegians cannot merge them all into one union, is it reasonable to hope for a United India where oceans of difference in all aspects of life exist?

Congress may support anti-Pakistan movement, may attempt to disrupt, divide and disunite Musalmans … but the time is not distant when it will have to face the reality. Muslims and Hindus have never been one in the past nor are they one at present, much less can they be so in future….
