KARACHI: As many as 23 more patients of coronavirus died overnight and 579 new cases emerged when 11,125 tests were conducted.

This was stated by Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah in a statement issued here on Thursday.

He said that currently 19,024 patients were under treatment, of them 18,362 were in home isolation, 15 at isolation centres and 647 at different hospitals, and added that the condition of 600 patients was stated to be critical, including 79 shifted to ventilators.

According to the chief minister, out of 579 new cases, 293 have been detected in Karachi, including 117 in East, 89 in South, 31 in Korangi, 25 in West, 18 in Central and 13 in Malir.

He said that Hyderabad had 102, Thatta 18, Jamshoro 15, Badin 12, Sujawal 10, Tando Mohammad Khan and Umerkot nine each, Mirpurkhas, Shikarpur, Dadu and Khairpur eight each, Matiari and Shaheed Benazirabad seven each, Jacobabad six, Ghotki and Naushahro Feroze five each, Tando Allahyar, Qambar and Larkana four each, and Sukkur had one new case.
