SUKKUR: DIG Fida Hussain Mastoi along with Khairpur SSP Amir Saud Magsi and SP headquarter Nosherwan Chandio visited Shah Abdul Latif University (Salu), Khairpur, on Tuesday and discussed security on the campus with Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Khalil Ahmed Ibupoto.

The DIG was told that in order to ensure law and order, security on the campus and around it needed to be beefed up. The VC said several police posts needed to be set up at the university and walk-through gates, watch towers and search lights should also be installed.

In this regard, he said, letters had been sent to police and Rangers officials. DIG Mastoi went round various faculties and hostels and assured the VC of full cooperation to him on the issue of security.

He said police pickets would be set up at hostels and women police would be deputed at girls’ hostel.

He said the number of police personnel deployed at the university would be increased.

Salu registrar Mureed Hussain Ibupoto, secretary to the VC Imran Ali Soomro, professors, officers and other employees were present at the meeting.

Meanwhile, director admissions, Salu, Shahid Hussain Mahar has announced that the first merit list of selected candidates for admissions in Bachelor programme in various faculties and teaching departments for academic year 2021 has been announced.

The list is available on university’s website www.salu.edu.pk.

The last date for submission of fees is Feb 12.
