KARACHI: The Pirabad police on Sunday arrested a suspect for plotting to get his brother killed through a “professional assassins”. He later also got the assassin eliminated in Lahore, they said.

The suspect, Hashim Khan, was arrested for plotting to get his brother, Qasim Khan, killed on Dec 1, 2020 to take over the victim’s property, an official at the police station said.

“The victim was attacked by armed men riding a motorbike outside his home within the jurisdiction of the Pirabad police station,” he said.

A thorough investigation into the case with the help of technological support and the suspect’s mobile phone data revealed that Hashim Khan had hired Ahmed Gul for Rs1.5 million to execute the plot. The suspect helped Gul to escape to Lahore and stay at the place of his (Hashim’s) friend, Rana Zahid.

“It emerged that Ahmed Gul was also murdered in Lahore on Hashim’s directive to remove evidence,” the official said.
