HYDERABAD: Leaders of three nationalist parties have agreed upon drafting a code of conduct for participation in birth and death anniversaries of G.M. Syed and condemned “unwanted activities” the like of which have been witnessed during birth anniversary functions in Sann on Jan 17.

Jeay Sindh Mahaz-Riaz chairman Riaz Ali Chandio, Jeay Sindh Qaumi Mahaz-Arisar chairman Aslam Khairpuri, information secretary of JSQM-Bashir Deedar Sham, JSQM-B former vice chairman Dr Niaz Kalani, an old comrade of G.M. Syed Taj Joyo and Munir Shah said in a joint press conference in Qasimabad on Wednesday activists of an organisation had held up portraits of world leaders, including Joe Biden, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Saudi Crown Prince Mohammad Bin Salman and others while some of these leaders represented the forces whose ideologies were in direct conflict with teachings of Syed.

Three parties agree on drafting a code of conduct for participation in birth and death anniversaries of Syed

They said that G.M. Syed always preached non-violence while one of leaders whose portrait was seen in the activists’ hands was spreading religious fanaticism and another was known for his extremism and violent teachings.

They said that they were true heirs of Syed and such activities by some people in Sann were condemnable. They would not let Sann become a controversial place and allow Syed’s teachings to be misrepresented in any sense, they said.

They said that they would draft the code before next birth anniversary function and it would apply to all those who would be participating in such functions.

They said that Sann represented peace, non-violence and world unity and the forces believing in religious or political extremism would not be tolerated in this place.

They said that cooperation of Syed’s family would be sought for implementing the code agreed upon by the three parties.

They said that they rejected “occupation” of Sindh’s islands and “usurpation” of the province’s resources. People of Sindh were reeling under unemployment and hunger while illegal immigrants were thriving in the province.

They demanded release of missing persons and said the three parties vowed to struggle jointly for rights and core issues of Sindh.

JSQP disagrees on proposal for draft

Jeay Sindh Qaumi Party (JSQP) chairman Nawaz Khan Zounr and other party leaders including Mohammad Ali Khushik, Hubdar Mirjat, Turab Jatoi rejected all kinds of adventurism, non-seriousness and childish activities in Sann.

But they also did not see the code of conduct as an effective step to prevent “unwanted activities” and contended that formalising a code would lead to conflict among activists.

They said in a joint statement on Wednesday that JSQP rejected all kinds of adventurism, anarchy and conflict. Philosophy of G.M. Syed was all about world peace, progress, human development and non-violence; if his philosophy fell prey to chaos and disunity, it would be abuse of Syed’s ideology and a “national sin”, they said.

They said that JSQP dissociated itself from forces who showed political immaturity only to undermine Sindh’s national struggle and from those who were unintentionally siding with enemies of Sindh because of their differences with some groups.
