SAHIWAL: Four armed men allegedly kidnapped on Monday evening a senior doctor of the DHQ teaching hospital near Bloomfield Hall.

Reports said paediatrics department head and senior consultant Dr Sajid Mustafa was on his way to his clinic when four suspects stopped his car.

Eyewitnesses told police the armed men brought Dr Mustafa out of his vehicle and took him to a nearby deserted street. During a scuffle with the doctor, his glasses fell on the ground which the police later collected.

They told police the suspects bundled him into their car parked on the other side of the street.

Fateh Sher, City and Farid Town police rushed to the spot.

Sub-inspector Mudassar Gaffar told Dawn at the crime scene that police had collected evidence.

Meanwhile, Pakistan Medical Association District President Dr Akhter Mahboob had called an immediate meeting of the executive committee to discuss the situation.
