Cold weather to persist in most parts of country

ISLAMABAD: Cold and dry weather is expected in most parts of the country, including the federal capital, while upper parts and north Balochistan will experience a severe cold weather during next 24 hours.

Fog is likely to prevail in plain areas of Punjab and upper Sindh during morning and evening hours.

Continental air is prevailing over central and southern parts of the country, said the Met Office.

In the last 24 hours, rainfall occurred in upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan, northeast Punjab, Potohar region and Islamabad.

Fog prevailed in central and southern plain areas of Punjab. Weather remained cold and dry in other parts of the country. Snowfall was also recorded in Kalam, Malam Jabba, Murree, Astore, Skardu, Bagrote and Chitral.

Rainfall recorded in different areas was: Kalam 25mm, Balakot 13mm, Malam Jabba 11mm, Pattan 9mm, Dir (upper 8mm, lower 2mm), Kakul, Mirkhani (Chitral) 8mm, Drosh 5mm, Saidu Sharif 3mm, Garhi Dupatta 19mm, Muzaffarabad 14mm, Rawalakot 16mm, Kotli 11mm, Murree 14mm, Sialkot 2mm, Gujarat 1mm, Chillas 4mm, Bunji and Gupis 1mm.
