MULTAN, Oct 8: A teenaged girl was burnt to death here on Saturday in Muhammadi Mohalla after an explosion took place in a house supposed to be used for manufacturing of firecrackers.

Police said that Muhammad Raza was living in a rented house in Street No. 2 of the Muhammadi Mohalla. Apparently he dealt in the business of second-hand clothes but clandestinely was used to producing homemade firecrackers.

At about noon, the stock of firecrackers exploded with a bang. The house later caught fire. People from the neighbourhood extinguished the fire and found a charred body of Raza’s daughter Shehla, 17.

Raza, however, managed to flee away from the burning house along with wife and three other children. No one turned up to receive Shehla’s body for funeral till the time of filing this report at 10pm.

The New Multan Police have registered a case under section 302 PPC and Explosives Act against Muhammad Raza on the report of area councilor Muhammad Arshad.
