PESHAWAR: Ministry of National Health Services Regulations and Coordination (NHSR&C) Islamabad has nominated Khyber Medical University (KMU) Peshawar for joining the regional network of institutions for evidence and data to policy (NEDTP).

It is worth mentioning that as per the prescribed criteria of World Health Organisation, KMU should be in a formal relationship with the ministry of health, either structurally linked with it or having a long term established relationship and collaboration with it, to play a key role in collaboration with the ministry and other partners to monitor and improve implementation of health policies and evaluate their impact on health outcomes.

According to a press release issued here on Wednesday, KMU has the human resource capacity and technical experience of key steps and processes in evidence informed policy developments such as knowledge translation process, conduct of policy dialogue, development of policy briefs, adaptation or development of health technology assessments report, clinical or public health guidelines and preparation of policy impact assessment reports.

On the basis of these strong grounds, KMU has been nominated as partner to join NEDTP.

It is pertinent to mention that KMU has a brilliant track record of a collaborative approach and partnership with other related national, regional and global entities in areas of knowledge translation process, conduct of policy dialogue, development of policy briefs, development of health technology assessment report, clinical or public health guidelines and preparation of policy impact assessment report.

KMU Vice-chancellor Prof Ziaul Haq termed the nomination of the university a sign of full confidence in it by WHO and NHSR&C.

He said it was an honour for KMU to join the regional NEDTP.

He expressed his determination that KMU would continue its journey of success in the fields of academics and research with more zeal to coup with the future health-related challenges.
