HYDERABAD: Students from different law colleges staged a demonstration outside press club here on Wednesday in protest against 120 per cent hike in fees by Sindh University.
The protesters led by Aftab Chandio, Darya Khan Chandio, Manjhi Awan and others told journalists that the university administration had been “minting money” for the past two years on the pretext of fees.
They said that fees had been raised by 120pc which was an anti-education step. Examination fee had now been raised from Rs700 to Rs1,700, which students had rejected, they said.
They said that students who failed one or more papers were required to pay Rs10,200 in addition to other fees already paid, which was nothing less than tyranny with poor students.
They warned that if the university administration did not withdraw its “cruel decisions” of hike in fee and unfair means policy the students would resort to province-wide protest.
