PESHAWAR: Pakistan Peoples Party and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz here on Sunday asked their office-bearers to mobilise workers for participation in the protest demonstration to be held outside the Election Commission of Pakistan in Islamabad on Tuesday (tomorrow).

PPP provincial president Mohammad Humayun Khan said in a statement here that the ECP had been hearing the foreign funding case against the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf since 2014, but it was yet to give its verdict.

He said the PTI leadership was continuously using derogatory language against the opposition parties, but it had failed to prove any of the allegations. The foreign funding case, he hoped, would prove as to who had obtained funds from some anti-Pakistan countries and for what purpose.

Urge commission for early verdict in PTI’s foreign funding case

The PPP provincial chief said it was time the ECP should announce its verdict so that the nation could know the factual position. He said Imran Khan was sitting on the prime minister’s seat, but he was playing a role like an opposition leader to level baseless allegations against his rival politicians.

He said the PTI leadership being in power corridors had failed to formulate effective policies to overcome the growing price hike and joblessness and steer the country out of the prevailing economic crisis. He said the PPP workers would fully participate in the Islamabad protest demonstration.

PML-N provincial president Amir Muqam in a separate statement here asked his party workers to ensure their presence in the scheduled protest rally outside the ECP offices so as to pave the way for ousting the ‘incompetent’ government.

He hoped that the ECP would give its decision without wasting time.

He alleged that the PTI leaders had accumulated wealth and they were bound to share the details with the nation.

He said the government had lost its credibility by increasing the prices of essential commodities, including wheat flour, sugar, natural gas, electricity and petroleum products.

Referring to the problems of business community, he said investors were leaving Pakistan due to uncertain economic policy and growing tariff of power and natural gas.

Mr Muqam claimed the PDM had launched a decisive struggle to rid the nation of the ‘corrupt’ government as early as possible.
