MURREE: Long and short term projects will be launched to resolve water crisis in Murree.

This was stated by Murree assistant commissioner Waqar Hussain who holds additional charge of Municipal Committee Administrator while addressing a meeting which was attended by public representative.

He assured the meeting that he would hold an inquiry into the recent water crisis and audit of expenditure.

The elected representatives and the administration wanted to find a solution to the water crisis.

The total needs of the army and civilian population in Murree are 2.5 million gallons of water, whereas only 1.3 million gallons of water was being provided by Donga Gali, Dharjawa, Masoot and Khani Tak water supply schemes during summer and snowy seasons.

The influx of large numbers of tourists is another cause of water shortage, otherwise water is enough for the army and the local population, he said.

During summer and snowy season, Murree faces severe water shortage.

He said due to loadshedding and lack of funds, electricity bills could not be paid on time.
