KASUR: A 12-year-old boy who had suffered serious injuries for resisting a rape attempt at village Rasoolnagar died in a Lahore hospital on Saturday.

Ganda Singh police arrested 17-year-old suspect, a resident of the same village, and lodged a criminal case against him.

According to police, the suspect had molested the minor boy about two months back but the elders of the village reconciled both the families and the victim boy’s parents did not report the incident to police.

On Thursday, the boy was found in a critical condition from the bamboo fields of Rasoolnagar. He had received a deep cut on the throat with a sharp-edged weapon by the suspect. He was rushed to the district headquarters hospital where the doctors referred him to the Children’s Hospital in Lahore.

It is pertinent to mention that Rasoolnagar is located near Hussain Khanwala village where the incidents of abuse of hundreds of children had surfaced in 2015. Families of the many of the victims had complained that their voice was suppressed by some influential people of the area.

ROBBERY: Robbers deprived the family of gold, cash and other valuables worth over Rs8m at Badar Colony in the limits of the Pattoki Police Station.

At least five robbers stormed into the house of shoe trader Muhammad Islam and held the family hostage at gunpoint.

They collected 65-tola gold, Rs0.7m cash, five expensive mobile phones and other valuables and fled.
