LAHORE: A tricky card of eight events — featuring two cup races — has been dished out by for the 20th Lahore Winter Meeting at the Lahore Racecourse here on Sunday.

The main event, the Ravi Cup, a term race for four-year-old thoroughbred and half-bred colts and fillies to be contested over 1,800 metres has seven high bloodline thoroughbreds. The beauty of the race is that barring one all the other runners have a chance.

All have won races and the each one is the champion in own right to make them the real contenders. In particular the quartet of Churchill, Sahil, Big Move and Exceptional One look to be the strong contenders to make it a closely contested

race. Churchill will be defending record of his unbeaten streak of victories.

The supporting feature, the Winter Cup, a Class VI Division II, III and 1V combined handicap race to be gone over 1,400 metres has a half-a-dozen thoroughbreds The way Manthaar won last week with great ease the Yasoob Plate — run over 1200 metres — he should win the cup race.

The race goers are expected to enjoy a feast of through-bred, half-bred and country-bred swift horses taking part in four races to be contested over 1,000 metres, two over 1,200 metres, one over 1,400 metres and one over 1,800 metres. The first race will be held at 12:00noon.
