LAKKI MARWAT: The district administration here has sought help of the ulema and prayer leaders for implementation of the standard operating procedures to contain coronavirus and protect the people from it.

“The campaign in this regard has been launched on the directives of the provincial government to sensitise people about the importance of precautions against Covid-19,” said deputy commissioner Abdul Haseeb on Thursday while talking to this correspondent.

He said the administration officials had held meetings with the prayer leaders to seek their help in the awareness campaign for containing spread of coronavirus.

“In view of second wave of the pandemic, the administration has intensified efforts to raise awareness among people of their own and others safety from the virus,” he said.

The administration has also imposed smart lockdown in some localities because of active cases there.

“The patients have been quarantined in their homes,” he said, adding that the assistant commissioners and other relevant officials had been engaged in implementation of the SOPs.

Mr Haseeb asked the people to wear masks and maintain social distancing to protect themselves from contracting the virus.

KILLED: A man was killed in a car accident near Ghaznikhel on Thursday.

Rescue sources identified the deceased as Abdul Khan, a government contractor who belonged to Gandi Khankhel locality.

They said that the accident occurred on Bannu-DI Khan section of Indus Highway.

They said that a team of Rescue 1122 shifted the body to the district headquarters hospital, Tajazai.

SHOPS SEALED: Additional assistant commissioner Aminullah Khan sealed three shops for hoarding commodities in Naurang town here on Thursday.

Following public complaints, the additional AC visited different bazaars in the urban locality and checked availability of food items and official price list at the shops.

He took serious notice of hoarding and overcharging by some traders.

He sealed three shops and imposed heavy fines on the violators.

He asked the traders to display and follow the official price list.
