VEHARI: An eight-year-old boy was allegedly tortured to death by a teacher at a madressah (seminary) situated at Chak 214-EB, Bangla Basti Saddar, some 35km from here, on Sunday.

As per Vehari Saddar police, Mubashir (8), a student of Madressah Arshadul Uloom was subjected to severe torture by his teacher, Qari Imran Yaqoob, for not learning the lesson. As a result, the boy fell unconscious and was sent home, where he died on Sunday night.

On knowing about the incident, locals informed the police and got the suspect arrested.

The police registered a murder case against Qari Imran.

According to Station House Officer Mirza Husnain, the suspect tortured the boy with an electric wire. He said the victim’s autopsy report confirmed that he was tortured to death. He said that after the incident the seminary had been sealed over violation of Covid SOPs.

The SHO said victim’s younger brother Shehzad, who was an eyewitness to the incident, told the police the details of the torture at the seminary.

He said the FIR against the suspect was registered on an application by victim’s father Yaseen.

According to the father, Qari Imran had also tortured Mubashir two days back.
