KARACHI: Police on Saturday claimed to have arrested four members of a gang believed to be active in house robberies in Clifton and Defence Housing Authority, respectively.

They said that this gang tended to commit house robberies on weekends.

“The suspects used a white Corolla car for committing robberies in posh areas of Karachi,” said South SSP (Investigation) Imran Mirza.

The action was taken jointly by South police’s operation and investigation wings.

“This organised gang of criminals during the last two weekends committed 15 robberies in bungalows of Clifton and Defence,” he said.

The held suspects ‘confessed’ to have looted nine homes from Nov 6 to 8 (from Friday to Sunday) in DHA.

They were also involved in looting six bungalows in Clifton between Nov 21-22 weekend.

The police said that the suspects got a portion of a house on rent. “The ringleader drove a water tanker in Karachi and a Peshawar-Karachi bus.”

The suspects were identified as Nasir Shah alias Haji, Asif Khan, Sardar and Raj Wali.

“Concerted efforts were under way to arrest remaining members of the gang,” the SSP said, adding: “We are expecting more arrests.”
