SAHIWAL: The Ghala Mandi police arrested a youth on Wednesday who allegedly stabbed to death a man in a mosque at Gulshan Ali Housing Colony on Monday.

Muhammad Hasan, 60, of the same locality, offered his prayers in the colony mosque on Dec 21.

Allah Ditta Shaheen, the Ghala Mandi police, told Dawn they arrested the 28-year-old youth who is also an acquaintance to Hassan. The police also recovered the knife used as the murder weapon. Although the police did not reveal suspect’s identity to the media, the SHO said the suspect killed Hassan on some relationship issues. The youth killed him on some personal “grudge”, he said.

The SHO said the suspect confessed to committing the crime.

It is said both the deceased and the suspect used to do some kind of chilla on the mosque premises.
