KPT lift Cadet Trophy

KARACHI, Oct 3: Three out of six Karachi Port Trust (KPT)’s boxers grabbed gold medals while three lost in final bouts to obtain silver on the final day of Ustad Ali Qambrani Cadet and Junior boxing tournament on Sunday at Muslim Azad Boxing Club.

KPT lifted the Cadet Trophy by scoring 12 points whereas Qadir Khan from National Camp received the best boxer award in the event.

South Club emerged champions to lift the Junior Trophy by scoring 18 points while Sajjad Qambrani of KESC was named as best pugilist of the event.

Abdul Waheed, M Iqbal and Shahzaib brought the premier medals For KPT while M Ali, Sheeraz and Aurangzaib earned silver medals for the department.

Abdul Waheed trounced Rashid Fateh of KPT in 46kg, M Iqbal defeated Kashif Baloch of Hyderabad in 51kg and Shahzaib won gold by outclassing Zahid Saleem in 60kg final.

M Ali was the first KPT boxer who fell in the final when he lost against Aamir Khan of KYC in 54kg in Junior Class. Sheeraz and Aurangzaib were defeated by Rauf and Qader Khan in 57 and 48kg bouts.

Those who clinched gold medals in final bouts include Khalil Hussain (KESC), Imran (MABC), Taj Muhammad (KPTA), Riaz Cheena (NCC) while in Junior Class Zubair (NCC), Sajjad Qambrani (KESC), Fazal Murad (KYC/M), Nadir Khan (MABC/S), M Aisan Khan (KYC/M) and Faisal Shah of Hyderabad.—PPI
