FAISALABAD, Oct 3: Judicial Magistrate Mubashar Nadeem Khan on Monday granted bail to all the three policemen, including inspector Jamshed Iqbal Chishti, involved in the illegal confinement case of Asim Yousaf, husband of ‘rape victim’ Sonia Naz.

The counsel for Jamshed Chishti and constables Iqbal Fareed and Noor Ahmed requested for the acceptance of bail application.

The police prosecutors countered the plea and urged the honourable judge not to provide relief to the accused because they were involved in heinous crime.

After a detailed hearing, the judicial magistrate granted them bail and asked them to furnish surety bonds worth Rs50,000 each.

Following the acceptance of bail application, all the three accused were released from the district jail.

It may be noted here that the Sargodha Road police had registered a case against suspended SP Abdullah Khalid, Jamshed Chishti, Iqbal Fareed and Noor Ahmed for keeping Asim Yousaf in illegal confinement and dereliction of duty.

The case had been registered following the findings of one-man tribunal, headed by District and Sessions Judge Abdul Waheed Khan.

Abdullah Khalid was on bail till Oct 7 while the others had been sent to jail on judicial remand.
