5 groups form alliance in Nowshera

NOWSHERA, Oct 3: A five-party alliance here on Monday claimed to have brought around majority of voters to win the district and teshil nazim elections in the third phase of the local body elections.

The alliance includes the PPP-P, the PPP-S, the JUI-F, the JUI-S, the PML-N and minorities. 360 of the the total 572 councillors union council nazims and naib nazims were present in its convention held here on Monday to prove their majority ahead of the polls.

The convention was attended by 24 nazims, 27 naib nazims and 309 councillors. Also present on the occasion was their joint candidate for the district nazim post Daud Khattak, candidate for the tehsil nazim post Dr Imran Khattak, former district nazim Pervez Khattak and PPP-P district president Liaqat Shabab.

Former Interior Minister Maj-Gen (rtd) Naseerullah Babar also addressed the convention and claimed that the gathering was a referendum.
