RAJSHAHI: The Awami League wants real integration of the two Wings through a bond of reciprocal affection, says Mr A.H.M. Kamruzzaman, General Secretary, All-Pakistan Awami League, after his and his party’s overwhelming victory in the elections.

In an exclusive interview with “Dawn”, Mr Kamruzzaman said the victory of the AL was known to the people long before. This election had centred around important issues like the constitution and the right to exist. “Let us admit that the people of Bengal have suffered, have lost and the entire province has assumed the look of a graveyard; let us admit further that no nation can live long, where a portion exploits the other, where the relationship remains like that of a master and the colonial country.”

Talking about the future constitution of the country the AL Secretary-General said no constitution short of six points could create real integration and the AL was determined to frame and pass a constitution based on the six points. Let there be an end to exploitation, end to misunderstanding and let the people build up a happy home for the 120 million toiling people of this country.

Mr Kamruzzaman congratulated the people for voting for the party that had been fighting for the economic and political emancipation of the people.
