IT is sad to see how law-enforcers are themselves guilty of violating laws with impunity. A few days ago, I was commuting from Sheikh Zayed Hospital at Larkana Road when I saw a traffic police warden beating a young rickshaw driver mercilessly with a stick. The driver’s fault was that he was plying his rickshaw on the wrong side of the road. While he did break a traffic rule, his crime did not warrant the treatment that was meted out to him. The traffic warden should have issued him a challan instead of taking the law in his own hands.
The authorities concerned must ensure that policemen follow the law as well.
