RAWALPINDI: Pakistan Democratic Alliance local leaders on Thursday announced their decision to start protest demonstration twice a week in every district starting from Sunday.

Addressing the press conference, Jamiat-i-Ulema-i-Islam (Fazl) District President Dr Ziaur Rehman, and PML-N Division President Malik Ibrar and PPP City President Babar Jadoon thanked the workers who made the public meetings of PDM successful.

PML-N leader Malik Ibrar said that the public meetings were against poverty, unemployment and the government’s wrong policies.

JUI-F District President Dr. Ziaur Rehman said that on the call of PDM President Maulana Fazlur Rehman, a peaceful rally would be brought out from Jamia Islamia on Sunday.

He said that the rally would go to the Rawalpindi Press Club and record a protest. He said all the parties would go to Lahore jointly for public meeting scheduled for Dec 13. “We are not provoking anyone. We have come out to protect the rights of the people,” he said.

“People of India held Kashmir heve been in lockdown for more than 400 days in but the government has done nothing to end their miseries,” he said. He said this was a wrong impression that PDM was not interested in talks with the government. “If anyone is interested in holding talks, PDM leaders will welcome,” he said.

He said PDM did not want to put the nation in danger who was already facing Covid-19 but the protest was necessary as the PTI government was suppressing the basic rights and snatching the food from the people.
