PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government on Wednesday banned indoor dining in hotels and restaurants, and entry of visitors to jails across the province with an immediate effect due to a surge in coronavirus incidence.

The home and tribal affairs department issued two notifications for the purpose.

According to a notification, in the view of the increasing positivity rate of Covid-19 during the second wave and as per the declaration of an emergency in the province, the competent authority, under the power conferred under section 6(b) section 6(d) and section 7 of KP Epidemic Control and Emergency Relief Act 2020, has banned indoor dining in restaurants and hotels throughout the province.

It said violation of those instructions would be punished under the relevant law.

The other notification said the competent authority had banned the entry of all kinds of visitors to jails of the province with an immediate effect to prevent the spread of the virus.
