HYDERABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf leader Sadaqat Ali Jatoi has said that incidents of land-grabbing and extortion have become the order of the day in Dadu but police are patronising the very criminals involved in these crimes instead of arresting them.

Jatoi said at a press conference at local press club on Tuesday that Pakistan Peoples Party and Sindh police had destroyed the province and appealed to the chief justices of Supreme Court and Sindh High Court as well as the inspector general of Sindh police to ensure an end to political interference in police.

He said that those who were making tall claims about massive development had in reality carried out no development at all. Entire province had been ruined and lawlessness prevailed everywhere including Dadu.

He said that Sindh police and PPP rulers were least concerned about people and in fact they had turned inimical towards the masses. PTI would not leave people in the lurch and resist tyranny and excesses of Sindh government.

He said that on Nov 29, one Majid Soomro was gunned down and his brother was wounded by dacoits in broad daylight in his own village, Betto Jatoi near Dadu. Late Soomro had dared offer resistance to the bandits during their attempt to rob him, he said, adding that this incident was enough to show poor performance of police.

He said that Dadu SSP had promised to arrest killers within two days but they had not been nabbed and now the officer was not even ready to attend their calls. The SSP only answered to PPP leaders because all police officers were appointed by the ruling party in Dadu district who were serving at the same positions for several years.
