LAHORE: Fifteen people died of the coronavirus while 738 more tested positive for the virus in Punjab during last 24 hours.

The Punjab government performed record 21,515 tests in a day since the start of the pandemic.

Of the new patients who tested positive for the virus, Lahore reported the highest number of 367 cases, followed by Rawalpindi that had 72, Bahawalpur had 67, Multan 50 and Sargodha had 33 cases.

Other cases surfaced in Sialkot, Rajanpur, Layyah, Sheikhupura, Khanewal, Faisalabad, Gujrat, Khushab, Pakpattan, Jhang, Bahawalnagar, Toba Tek Singh, Gujranwala, DG Khan, Bhakkar, Kasur, Muzaffargarh, Vehari and Rahim Yar Khan.

The total number of deaths reached 2,960 while confirmed cases 117,898 in Punjab so far.

A spokesperson for the health department said 98,191 Covid patients of the virus had recovered in Punjab.
