KARAK: The local people have demanded of the foreign oil and gas exploration company, MOL, to award scholarships to the students and establish a technical institution in the district.

Talking to reporters, social activists of the Bahader Khel, Gurguri and Jatta Ismail Khel union councils, where the company makes exploration, said the firm had stopped scholarships to students due to unknown reasons. They said the poor students were waiting for scholarships to continue higher education.

The activists said the company was violating an agreement made with the government to provide scholarships and establish the vocational centre.

They demanded of the company’s country manager to take practical steps for meeting the genuine demand of the people.
