LOWER DIR: Former provincial minister and Jamaat-i-Islami leader Advocate Muzafar Said here on Monday announced to part ways with his party and join Pakistan Peoples Party.

He made the announcement during a function organised by PPP at the residence of former provincial minister Mehmoodzeb Khan, who is also district president of the party.

The function was also addressed by Senate former chairman Nayyar Hussain Bukhari, PPP provincial president Humayun Khan, general secretary Faisal Karim Kundi, former MNAs Akhunzada Chattan, Malik Azmat Khan, Ahmad Hassan Khan, Najmuddin Khan, former provincial minister Bakht Baidar Khan, PPP former provincial president Rahimdad Khan and others.

The PPP leaders welcomed the JI leader and said that the party would never disappoint him.

Muzafar Said wanted action against workers, who didn’t vote for him in 2018, say insiders

Addressing the function Muzafar Said stated that he would try his best to serve the party and its workers.

Muzafar Said was elected nazim in 2001 local government elections.

He was elected MPA in 2002 general elections on JI ticket.

The party again awarded him ticket in 2008 but boycotted the elections.

He was again elected MPA in 2013 and remained provincial finance minister for four years during the PTI-led coalition government. In the 2018 general elections, he was defeated by PTI candidate Shafiullah Khan.

According to insiders, Muzafar Said wanted disciplinary action against those party workers, who did not vote for him in the 2018 elections, but the district organisation was reluctant to do so.

The PPP leaders termed joining of one of the JI active politicians a victory for the party.

They asked the workers to participate in the rally of Pakistan Democratic Movement in Peshawar on November 22 to oust the government.
