LAHORE: The cross-examination of two witnesses of singer Meesha Shafi could not be held on Saturday since the proceedings of a defamation suit against her filed by singer-actor Ali Zafar stood transferred to a new judge.

Actor Iffat Omar and Syed Farhan Ali were present in the court for their cross-examination, however, Additional District and Sessions Judge Yasar Hayat noted that the district and sessions judge transferred the case to the court of AD&SJ Imtiaz Ahmad.

The judge directed the parties and their counsel to appear on Nov 16 before the transferee judge for further proceedings in the case.

An official said Additional District and Sessions Judge Hayat was unable to proceed with the suit due to an administrative assignment given to him by the authority.
