Korangi Sports Festival to be held from Nov 14-21

KARACHI: The Korangi Sports Festival 2020 will commence in the city from Nov 14-21 with a grand exhibition cricket match between DC Korangi XI and DMC Korangi XI at the Rashid Latif Academy in which several former and current national cricketers as well as renowned city officials will participate.

This was announced on Thursday by DC Korangi and Administrator Shehryar Gul in a crowded press conference here. He said that the festival will begin with competitions of cricket, football and shootingball in the first stage in which all talented youth and players from the Korangi district will take part as per the vision of Sindh Govt and CM Murad Ali Shah.

“Strict SOPs will be observed in the weeklong festival which will be organized by Distruict Administration Korangi and DMC Korangi in which 8 teams of every sport will compete on knockout basis,” said DC Shehryar Gul who himself has been a First Class cricketer.

“Korangi district has produced stalwarts like Saeed Anwar, Rashid Latif, Tasleem Arif, Saeed Azad, Tauseef Ahmed, Naseem Hameed, Atiqur Rahman, Barkatullah and any others and wwe want to revive sports in a big way here,” said the Administrator.

Cricket contest will be held at the Landhi Gymkhana ground where chief organiser will be Shezad Alam while football matches will be held at Saudabad Football Stadium under the supervision of organiser Zameerul Islam.

The shootingball contests will be held at the Ghazi

court at Punjab Ground in Shah Faisal Colony for which Adviocate Arif Awan and Aijaz Qureshi will be the organisers.

The DC said that sports equipment will be distributed as prizes among the outstanding teams and players.
