HARIPUR: District police officer, Haripur, Kashif Zulfiqar has claimed that the killers of Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf leader Malik Tahir Iqbal would soon be arrested as the police had closed in on suspects identified during investigations conducted in the case on scientific lines.

He was speaking during an open kutcheri held in Ghazi here the other day. Some of the participants had questioned the delay on the part of police in apprehending the killers of the local PTI leader and demanded their early arrest.

Responding to the demand, Mr Zulfiqar, who was transferred to Haripur last week, said that the police and CTD had investigated the high-profile murder case on scientific lines and the suspects would soon be in their custody.

“I will soon be sharing the information about the arrests,” he told the participants and said that the investigation mechanism was being improved with the objective to help provide speedy justice to people.

The DPO said that a campaign had already been underway to arrest drug pushers in Haripur as there was zero tolerance for drugs. He also assured the people of taking action against drivers involved in overloading, especially of school vans. PTI’s additional general secretary, Hazara division, Malik Tahir Iqbal, was assassinated along with his friend Gul Nawaz on Sept 13.

TEACHERS’ SENIORITY: Office-bearers of Tanzeem-i-Asateza Pakistan (TAP) have demanded of the education department to compile and display the seniority lists of teachers belonging to all cadres for ending the uncertainty prevailing among them for the last few months.

The demand was made at the TAP meeting held with district president Amir Atiq in the chair here the other day. The meeting took up the single-point agenda and discussed the promotion-related issues of teachers of all the cadres in the district.
