KARACHI: The body of late Mr S.M. Zaidi will be exhumed today [Nov 9]. The delay in the exhumation of his body was due to the non-arrival of the Civil Surgeon of Thatta, a member of the Board of Experts set up by the Health Department of Sind Government for carrying out the second post-mortem examination.

While the questioning of the accused, Shahnaz Gul, continues, Iqbal, the chowkidar of late Mr Zaidi, has also been taken in custody. It is not known whether he has been arrested or only detained for questioning. Police neither denied nor confirmed his detention or arrest. A Police official, however, said that he was being kept at the police station so that, being a key witness in the case, he might not be influenced in any way.

Meanwhile, the newly set-up Special Police Squad spent the entire day yesterday in going through the papers and diaries of the case prepared by the Crimes Branch…. — Correspondent

[Agency] adds: Sources said the original Medical Board’s report had said that it was possible that the skull of the deceased had been fractured, causing heavy bleeding. The Board was unable to say how the injury, if any, was caused or if it could by itself have resulted in the death.
