Five killed in wedding party clash in Kohat

KOHAT: Five people, including two brothers, were killed and three others the groom among them injured when rival groups came face to face at a wedding party and started firing at each other here on Sunday.

The firing incident took place in Kaghazai area of Kohat. As a result, brothers Qaiser Mohammad and Niaz Mohammad, their cousin Junaid Khan, and passers-by Qasimur Rehman and Abdur Rehman died on the spot.

The injured, including groom Asheed, Tor Gul and Isfandyar, were held with weapons. Mirza Ali told the local police that Mujahid group opened fire at them which claimed the lives of his two sons Qaiser and Niaz and three others.

The seizure included three Kalashnikovs, two shotguns, one rifle, five pistols and cartridges.

In another incident, tribesmen Saood Badshah and his son Hashmat Khan from Tirah living in Dheri Banda, Kohat city, were killed with batons over a children’s dispute. One Rehman was also injured in the incident. A cousin of the deceased has nominated Nizam Khan and Ikram Khan in the case.

The injured were shifted to Kohat and Peshawar hospitals.
