KARACHI, Sept 29: The Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) demonstrated its strength on Thursday night for city nazim and naib nazim elections of Oct 6 by gathering over 1,700 councillors forming the electoral college.

Addressing them at a dinner hosted by the MQM candidate for city nazim, Mustafa Kamal, at the Jinnah Ground in Azizabad, chief of the MQM Altaf Hussain warned that a conspiracy was on to change the results of the third and last phase of the local body elections, said a press release.

He asked the conspirators to desist from their nefarious activities else his party followers would ensure that justice was done through courts of law.

Congratulating Mustafa Kamal and Nasreen Jalil, nominees for city nazim and naib nazim respectively, Mr Hussain directed them to work for the uplift of the common man.

He said no one could buy Haq Parasts as they were not for sale. “Their loyalty is beyond any shadow of doubt as the party believes in principles,” he said.
