CHAKWAL: The faculty of law was added to the newly established university of Chakwal on Saturday.

Supreme Court Judge Justice Qazi Mohammad Amin and Provincial Minister for Higher Education and Information Technology Raja Yasir Humayun Sarfraz formally inaugurated the law college.

The block was constructed by a Chakwal native Arif Saleem who named it after his mother as Karam Noor Block.

Justice Qazi Muhammad Amin and Raja Yasir Humayun Sarfraz paid tribute to the services rendered by Mr Saleem.

Speaking on the occasion Justice Amin said that Chakwal was a poverty stricken area and only job opportunity for the youth was to get recruited in the army. “Raja Sarfraz Khan changed the fate of the area by establishing Government College Chakwal,” he said and added that we must remember our other heroes like the founders of Khalsa High School (now Government High School No 1 Chakwal).

Raja Yasir while speaking on the occasion said that to establish a university in Chakwal was his dream.

“It is a moment of happiness for me as the University of Chakwal has become a reality,” he said and added that more faculties would be kept adding to the university. “Engineering college, college of medicine and college of agricultural sciences would soon be established,” he revealed.

He appealed to the members of Chakwal Bar Council and people of other segments of societies to take ownership of the university.

Vice Chancellor of UoC Dr Inayat Ullah Khan said two thousand students have been admitted to the university while even its first year of inception, five faculties have been set up.
