CHITRAL: Jamaat-i-Islami Khyber Pakhtukhwa chief Senator Mushtaq Ahmed Khan said on Saturday that the country could not flourish till establishment of real democracy where all institutions discharged their duties according to their respective mandate.

Addressing the party workers here, he said that it was the sole right of the people of the country to choose their government through democratic process. He said that the course of democracy should be allowed to take its due course without any obstruction.

He said that across-the-board accountability was the prerequisite for ensuring development and prosperity of the country. He said that the existing farce exercise of accountability was only meant to pressurise the opposition leaders to keep mum over corruption of the rulers.

The JI leader called for ruthless accountability of all irrespective of their status as the evil of corruption had ruined the economy, which could have serious implications for the country.

He criticised the rulers of the Muslim countries for their silence over sacrilegious utterances of the French president.

He said that the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) should convene an emergency meeting over the situation and send a clear message to the world that the Muslims would never tolerate a word against the Prophet of Islam and decide economic boycott of France.

Senator Mushtaq Ahmed said that anti-Islam block was united against the Muslims.

Earlier, the JI provincial chief administered oath to the newly-elected chief of the district chapter of the party, Maulana Akhunzada Rahmatullah. MNA from Chitral Maulana Abdul Akbar Chitrali and former chairman of district council Khurshid Ali Khan were also in attendance and addressed the gathering.
