Moral compass

Published October 26, 2020

THE old is gold adage is in itself a lesson. Have we ever wondered why this maxim has passed from generation to generation? The indifference of the young and fast-eroding moral values may be the reason why old traditions and values are disappearing. Youngsters today only find fault with others while remaining oblivious to what others think of them.

In today’s world, no one has time for each other. Our elders used to care about others and were concerned about their welfare. We have no respect for any relation because we only revere wealth. Judging someone by the brands one wears is the predicament of modern society.

Last but not least, the bond between humans is getting weaker because we are no longer accommodating and considerate towards others. We are always willing to make a mountain out of a mole hill. The attitude of always considering oneself right has made us intolerant and impatient.

We have become so drab in colour and dull in soul that we find it easier to leave someone rather than empathise with them. Thus, the knot of relationships is slowly loosening. Keeping in mind this scenario of preferring materialism over morality, our youth need to be taught patience and moral values. To do this, we should adopt religious values in order to succeed in this world and shine in the hereafter.
