LAHORE: The Garden Town police on Sunday arrested a policeman on charge of raping a theatre actress.

The actress (M) had lodged a complaint against the policeman (K) for taking her to a hotel in Garden Town for a dance function and raping her there. She said she was a dancer by profession and the suspect had hired her to dance in a party. She said the suspect fled after raping her.

The police registered the rape case against the suspect and arrested him.

Punjab Inspector General of Police (IGP) Inam Ghani took notice of the incident and sought a report on it from the capital city police officer (CCPO). He ordered a departmental inquiry into the charges against the suspect and provision of justice for the woman.

MURDER: A man was stabbed to death by the husband of the woman he used to call in the Badami Bagh area on Sunday.

The police said Sultan, 25, of Toba Tek Singh was working at Haji Ashraf’s warehouse for the last five years. On Sunday morning, one Amjad of Narowal approached the warehouse and asked for Sultan. When Sultan came there, Amjad attacked him with a knife and stabbed him to death.

The police shifted the body to the morgue for autopsy and registered the case.

The suspect later approached the police station and courted arrest. He told the police that Sultan was making calls to his wife on phone for quite some time and he had stopped him many times in the past from doing so. When Sultan did not stop, he killed him for honour.
