MOHMAND: Traders blocked the Bajaur-Peshawar highway here on Friday to protest against the daily checking of prices by the volunteers of the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf’s Tiger Force.

The demonstration was organised on the call of Ghalanai Bazaar Union against the checking of prices jointly by the administration officials and the Tiger Force volunteers.

Haji Bahram, the union’s president, and others said the business community had been fed up with the daily raids by the volunteers of the Tiger Force and the administration officials as it was disrupting the business activities. They said the Tiger Force volunteers had no legal justification to check prices of commodities.

They threatened that the business community would observe a complete strike if the traders were harassed by the volunteers. The protesters also demanded provision of the mobile utility store facility to the residents of the tribal districts.

Meanwhile, nine passengers, including women and children, were injured when a coach heading to Shabqadar from Mohmand district crashed near Ekkaghund while trying to save a motorcyclist. The bike rider was also among the injured.

Personnel of Rescue 1122 shifted the injured to the rural health centre Ekkaghund and the Tehsil Headquarters Hospital, Shabqadar.
