LAHORE, Sept 26: The four-match home series against India will prove a litmus test for the team as it will let us know its potential and help raise a strong squad for the first Asia Cup, says the president of Pakistan Cricket Board Women Wing (PCBWW) Mira Phailbus.

She told a press conference on Monday that the series would help chalk out a plan for Asia Cup to be held in Pakistan in December this year.

The 17-member under-21 Indian squad landed here on Monday. They will play all of their four matches in Lahore from Sept 28 to Oct 3. The matches will be of 40-over-a-side.

Ms Mira, flanked by her secretary and captain Shamsa Hashmi, admitted that six women players inducted in the team did not participate in national championship.

She said the wing had informed all the players of the national event but some talented players could not make it at that time, so she decided to take them in.

Captain and secretary Shamsa rejected the notion that the dual role would affect her performance, but said that she was ready to quit as secretary if the PCBWW came up with her alternative.

The first match will be held at Aitchison College ground on Wednesday, the second and third at Bagh-i-Jinnah on Thursday and Saturday and the fourth and final will be played at Qadhafi Stadium on Monday.

Meanwhile, a 17-member Indian under-21 women team was due to arrive here late Monday night.

TEAM: Karuna Jain Vijaykumar, Diana David Pilli, Priti Dimri, Thirush Kamini Murugesan Dickeshwashankar, Soujanya Manukonda, Shweta Rohidas Jadhav, Niranjana Nagarajan, Savitha Nirala, Priyanka Roy, Snehal Nitin Pradhan, Rumeli Dhar, Sravanthi Sthalam Krishnamurthy, Anagha Arun Deshpande, P Sindhu, Anjali Shridhar Pendharkar, Kalpana Venkatachar, Hardeep Dua.
