PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government said on Thursday that administrative machinery was not being used to facilitate the Tiger Force gathering in Islamabad.

A statement issued here said the chief secretary’s office had not issued any such instructions. It said that district administrations were tasked by the home department to inform the willing members of volunteer force about the event.

It said that corona tigers were voluntarily performing duties without any financial compensation and operating with the spirit of public service.

The statement said around 350 volunteers of the Tiger Force belonging to 35 districts of KP would attend the convention in Islamabad on Saturday (Oct 17) where it would be decided that how the tigers would perform duties to overcome challenge of hoarding and profiteering.

It said that during the corona lockdown the force was tasked with coping with the pandemic and distribution of relief package among the people. Now, the government has assigned another task to the force to check the prices of food items, the statement said.

The force volunteers will coordinate with the relevant district administrations to monitor prices of commodities in the market.
