KARACHI: While the importance of research cannot be ignored in the present age, the seriousness of any country in education, research and development can be gauged from the amount the country spends on research work.

The strong relationship between academics and industry provides a base for a stable economic and social system. Such relationship also helps eradicate hunger and poverty from the society.

These views were expressed by Vice Chancellor of the University of Karachi Professor Dr Khalid Mahmood Iraqi on Wednesday.

He was speaking at a launching ceremony of Business Research Journal at the University of Karachi, organised by the Karachi University Business School (KUBS). The journal was inaugurated online at the VC secretariat.

He stressed that research creates new products, procedures, and knowledge.

The KU VC said that research publications reflected the participation of the society in educational activities.

He stressed that research protocols should be in line with international standards of modern era. He said that a research journal was the representation of any university’s quality and status.

He congratulated the chairperson of KUBS Dr Muhammad Asim for issuing a research journal within the limited amount of resources and facilities.

He said that all the research journals issued from KU were strictly following international standards and protocols of research.

Acting dean Faculty of Management and Administrative Sciences Professor Dr Nasreen Aslam Shah expressed the hope that the journal would get recognition and higher ranking by the Higher Education Commission Pakistan after its four publications.

Dr Muhammad Asim shared the background and achievements of the business school.

He mentioned that the global visibility of the journal was impressive and based on standards and quality at par with world-class journals.
