HARIPUR: The police on Saturday arrested an Afghan refugee on charges of sexually molesting his daughter in Sera-i-Saleh union council here.

Quoting the victim, 17, the police said her family had been growing crops on a piece of land of a local landlord in Maira area for last few years. She said her father molested her a couple of times in past. She said on Thursday night when she was alone in her house her father barged into her room and raped her.

On her complaint, the police arrested the accused and took the victim to the Haripur Trauma Centre for medical examination, where the doctors confirmed that the victim was raped.

The police registered a case against the accused and obtained his one-day physical remand from court for further investigations.

Meanwhile, the Sera-i-Saleh police on Saturday arrested a man for attempting to molest a five-year-old boy in Gheba village.

The police quoted a man as saying that his minor nephew was on way back home after school when the accused took him to nearby fields and attempted to molest him. However, the minor boy and his other classmates started shouting, forcing the accused to escape.
