LAHORE: A factory employee was shot dead by gunmen in Baghbanpura on Tuesday.
Identified as Abdul Aziz, the deceased was a resident of Muslim Town. The gunmen killed him when he came out of a bank after withdrawing Rs1.1 million with his employer Khalid Ahmad.
Initial police inquiries suggest that as they came out of the bank, the two gunmen held them at gunpoint and snatched the money.
As Aziz offered resistance, one of the gunmen opened indiscriminate fire and fled the scene leaving him critically injured.
A police official said that Aziz received a bullet in his chest and died later at the hospital. He said a case was registered against unidentified robbers.
In another incident, additional station house officer of Shahdra Ghulam Bari got injured in an armed clash with two gunmen near Sagian Bridge on Wednesday. The police arrested one of the two criminals and shifted the injured police official to the hospital where his condition was stated to be stable.
The police official said that the SHO came across the criminals, while responding to a 15 call about a street robbery. Also, teenage Abdul Wahid reportedly committed suicide by hanging himself with a ceiling fan in his house in Harbancepura here on Wednesday.
A police official said the boy took the extreme step when his parents admonished him over some issues.
He said the police arrived at the house when his family alerted them about the incident investigated the matter and handed over the body to his parents.
