QUETTA: Balochistan Minister for Agriculture Engineer Zamarak Khan Piralizai has said that it is imperative to modernise the agriculture and livestock sectors for making the province economically stable.

“If the federation provides special assistance to Balochistan in the field of agriculture, then this sector will be helpful in eradicating poverty and unemployment,” he said this while talking to Rubina Saeed Shahwani, the chief executive officer of Socio Solution, on Monday.

Mr Piralizai said that the government was taking steps on a priority basis in the development of the agriculture sector, providing training to farmers, promoting tunnel farming and doubling production.

He said the government was providing tractors to the farmers at subsidised rates and was in touch with Spain and Italy regarding the promotion of olive farming in the province.

He said the provincial government was providing assistance to promote agriculture in Balochistan.

The government, he said, welcomed the donors and it would extend all possible cooperation in this regard.

Ms Shahwani expressed interest in providing assistance to the province in the agriculture sector and establishment of a techno park.

Agriculture Secretary Kambar Dashti, representatives of the Quetta Chamber of Commerce and Industry Sarwar Agha and Fayaz Ahmed were also present on the occasion.
